we learned about immigration in school.. so i wrote something
Did you know that more than 12 million immigrants come to America each year? I analyzed 10 REAL documents about immigration including poems, chart, letters, cartoons, and even real life photos to help me understand immigration. Afterwards, I think immigration is not worth it and the life of being an immigrant is very bitter. Many immigrated for religious freedom, escaping problems in other countries, and sometime just to start a brand new life. Many immigrants were kicked out of America or detained for a long time. Hence, I think immigration is not worth it.
Although I think immigration isn't the best, there are some benefits of immigrating to America. For example, I analyzed document 8, which is a poem written by Emma Lazarus. The poem is about the Statue of Liberty. “A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame, is the imprisoned lighting, and her name mother of exiles.” This means the Statue of Liberty is welcome to all of the sick or poor immigrants. Second, immigration is a way to escape problems in other countries. I analyzed the chart in document 7. Many immigrants come to America to escape religious persecution, wars, famine and natural disasters which is a benefit of immigrating to America because those problems will cause too much troubles for immigrants in their home country. Plus, America has lots of job opportunities and benevolent scoitetes (scosities that help immigrants in case of death, no jobs, or no education.) As you can see, immigration will help immigrants avoid problems in their home country and have a chance too see the Statue of Liberty.
Next, most of the immigrants who have something wrong with them get detained, which means you stay at the center until someone picks you up. Even if the immigrants pass the inspection, his/hers living conditions are bitter. Im document number 6, I saw a picture of 3 homeless child laborers sleeping in dirty alleys and doorways. Those poor immigrant kids were wearing tattered rags with frowning mouths. So, immigration has immigrants in poverty, which forces kids to work in dangerous factories full of dust just to earn enough money to eat. Another reason why immigration could be bad is document 5. Again, document 5 is a picture of a large family living in the basic immigrant tenement. Did you know that tenements lack fresh air, have no windows, not to mention no air conditioning. Since many immigrants live together in one tenement, diseases such as tuberculosis can be spread from one to another. Each hall gets one bathroom only for everyone to share. How gross! All in all, immigration can also be a terrible life and a sad future.
Both sides are very well presented in all ten documents talking about immigration. However, I think that immigration is not worth it because they have to live in tenements. The poor immigrants can't improve tenements because they don't get enough money everyday, only enough just to get by. Even if the immigrant has skills, almost nobody in America will hire them because the immigrants can't communicate in English. In document 9, I analyzed the U.S Immigration Act of 1917. The law states, “Restricting all immigrants who are mentally or physically defective, or cannot read English. Document 9 proves my point because if immigrants ever want to go to America, they have to be good at English and be perfectly healthy. Many immigrants find this law out to late and get sent back, for all the hard work getting to America was a waste for them. In conclusion, I believe immigration will cause more problems than just staying put in your home country.
Overall, I think immigration is not worth it. I remember document 2, which is a New Immigration chart. Italy does not have any jobs so people want to come to America. In Russia, Russians don't have religious freedom but in America they do. The catch is when they move, the jobs can make you die. English is another language they have to learn. Isn't that hard? Native born Americans don't treat immigrants kindly. Document 1 is a poster regarding how immigration will take away jobs from Natives, which will ruin America. Documents 1-10, full of papers, cartoons, letters, and charts inspired me to draw the conclusion: no, immigration is not worth it.

But what about where these immigrants come from? Where they live in socialists and communists countries where the same thing may happen to them either way? Where they live in constant fear for their families, friends, and neighbors?
I also want to know where this information is from, you said you got this from books and documents and poems, you have to cite it :V, otherwise we can't give much merit to your paper.
Well done by the way c:It appears you put effort into you paper. What I suggest in the future though is to incorporate the other argument to strengthen your paper. Give a reason why immigration may be god and beat it don wit why it bad o3o
