Deep in the meadow, past the tall trees and berry bushes, two little girls played by the river. The water was moving fast, with many large rocks and beautiful fish of all kinds and colors. The two little girls were playing just by the stream. Maddie, a little girl with auburn hair, was leaning in, examining a beautiful pink fish. She was bended over, wearing a beautiful yellow dress and a yellow ribbon. The other little girl, Alyssa, was using a stick to search for worms in the mud. Her beautiful pink dress was smudged with mud, and her headband's flower had fallen off and into the water. When she looked up, she discovered Maddie's ribbon was about to blow away. So, she walked to Maddie, about to pull the ribbon out, when she tripped over a stone. She fell onto Maddie, and they went tumbling into the water. Alyssa was on top of Maddie, and the stream washed layers of water onto Maddie's face. Alyssa poked her head up, shivering from the freezing water, and pulled Maddie from the water. She pulled herself onto the land, and then pulled Maddie out of the water. Maddie was lying face down, her yellow gown soaked. Her ribbon was gone. Alyssa flipped Maddie's body over, to discover a big cut on her forehead. Her nose was bleeding, her dress smudged with blood. Alyssa listened to Maddie's heartbeat, excepting to hear it pumping. Instead, she heard nothing. Alyssa panicked, and was afraid that everyone would blame her for Maddie's murder. So, she rolled Maddie's body into the water, and It was carried until it reached the waterfall. It went over. Next, Alyssa found the bloody stone that cut Maddie. She buried it into a hole. She washed the blood of her hands, and made sure there was nothing on her clothing. Then, she ran home.
The next day, Alyssa went back to the river. She was surprised to see Maddie's yellow ribbon, and she hung it on a tree branch. She looked for worms. Alone. When she heard the wind whistling something, she stopped to listen closer. " Maddie, Maddie, her soul wanders freely, Maddie, Maddie, Oh why did you do this to be?" The last part sent chills up Alyssa's back. She ran, but it was no use. The whistling wind followed her, and she found a ghost standing in front of her. The girl was soaking wet, with a bloody nose and a yellow dress with blood stains on it. Then she realized. It was Maddie.
The ghost pulled the ribbon from the tree branch, and tied her hair. She shook her head. " You have committed a terrible crime." She said. " its your fault I'm dead.' Alyssa was terrified. " But now, you'll join me." It was all like a dream. The ghost pushed Alyssa into the water, and she hit her head. She tried to swim out, but it was like the water was holding her down. It wasn't until the last second she seen another body. When she looked closely, she seen a familiar body. It was Maddie. Then everything went black.
