| My mom just showed me a video that showed the story about colored chicks. Have you ever heard about them? I hadn't, until I finished watching it. Colored chicks are just normal chicks that are dyed colors with toxic dye/paint, such as green, blue, yellow (stronger yellow), green, and others. There was a video filmed by a secret camera about the process.
First, a man takes a big container and pours paint/dye into it. For example, green. They take a container full of alive chicks and drop them into the container with dye. Then, the man uses his hands to stir the chicks like if they were some kind of food. He keeps stirring until they get a good color. Then, they use a hair spray to make sure the paint doesn't wear off. This is the process they do, color by color, and then sell the chicks, the ones that actually survived the process because the paint is toxic and so is the hair spray (I think), and sometimes even stick small hats to their heads with HOT GLUE and then give them to different people who sell them, leaving them for days in the heat without food. After they are bought, they won't even last more than 4 days alive, before they die.
This is something really awful I just found out about. By the way, the man who was speaking was from Mexico, so there probably won't be where you live. Just in case, I'm going to create awareness of this horrible thing I just found out.

| OMg I never knew this. I seen colored chicks in videos and apparently it was safe because they used dye in the embryo of the egg, there were even videos of them as adult chickens, but this I'm just shocked. Thats so sad and cruel.
I wish I was a real PMMM witch so I can beat up those horrible guys

| I heard about hot chicks, but I'd think they'd use FOOD COLORING. That is cruel. Cruel to the poor little chicks that really needs a chance to live in the world.
And the hot glue is terrible! *sobs in a corner*

| Huh, I see nothing like this on the internet, everything says the dye-ing part isn't toxic, just stressful. What's wrong is how they sell these chicks like festive easter playthings. Some people aren't even prepared for raising a chicken and then just discard the cute chicks.
I think it's illegal to dye them that way? Plus won't the chicks drown in paint? nvm I saw the video. :c

He took the chick out and placed it in a plastic bag.

In fact, instead of the disgusting process, they shouldn't sell the chicks in mass quantities and either keep them natural colored (which is far cuter), or actually do the careful and SAFE process of dying the embryo! And sell them like a breeder would! WHY IN THE WORLD HOT GLUE ANYWAYS? CAN'T THEY JUST NOT PUT ON THE STUPID HAT? Stupid people. |

| I do prefer things with more of a variety (for certain things), but this is just terrible. Why don't they use something else instead of toxic paint? They're making the poor things suffer! They even die and they're only chicks. Plus, putting them in plastic bags is also horrible, so is the hot glue. Hot glue? Are you serious? And plastic bags? Ugh, sometimes, I really do wish the world would be a more happier place with less pain. |
