Subject: Eragon- the home of dragons. Sat Aug 13, 2011 6:19 am
I would like to show you a new story- called Eragon. I wrote it myself. Hope you like it!
Dragons like to keep themselves as a secret- but they seemed to have let a small girl, Juliet, into it. She kept her promise towards the dragon and never told anyone about it. She flew on them, and when she wanted to run away when she was 12, her favorite dragon Barthemus saved her. But then came a time when a small, new baby dragon with amazing personalities grew- now this was her new favorite. And she named it the most exciting name she could think of and that is the name of this book- Eragon.
The main characters here are Barthemus, Juliet, Hedington and Eragon. Juliet is a small, quiet girl who likes to mind her own business, though she is curious. So one day, at least when she was four, she wandered into the woods near her house and found dragons. There, the dragons spoke in her language. So she made friends with them and kept it as a secret- or the world would probably never be the same if it was revealed. Her parents were not nice to her so when 12, Juliet flew away on Bathemus, her new dragon and all the others, to China. There she lived in the forest quite the same at home with the dragons, though one day when a new dragon arose, things became different.
Juliet was a quite peaceful girl, living in China. She had a small hut made out of wood and brass with all she needed inside. She was neither rich or poor. Juliet had her friends around her- Dragons. Dragons called Sesame, Barthemus, Hedwinton, Sniffles and much more. Out of them, she liked Barthemus best. Juliet went to work in a bar. She got good wages and the owner, Hedington, liked her. Barthemus followed her everywhere except to work. His wife, Argentina, was 5.4 feet and he was 6. But one day, when Argentina got a new son Juliet called Eragon, she had a new favorite. Some 2 years later, Eragon grew 1 foot. Quite slow, isn’t it? However, he was cute and remained cute, and could fit into Juliet’s bag. One day, when Juliet went to work, her bag suddenly felt heavy. There was a small hole in it so she looked inside, but there was only blackness. When Juliet was dusting windows, she looked back, as if she heard a sound. In fact, she DID. Eragon was climbing out of her bag, and she had to run forward and push him into the bag, saying, “Eragon!” Hedington arrived. “My!” he asked. “What’s the matter? What are you holding? What’did you say?” Juliet smiled. “Nothing!” she said. “I said- ‘Eragon’ It’s my way of exclaiming- I saw a beetle! I’m holding a brush!” she finished and fished a brush out and showed it. After she finished work, she zoomed back into the woods and put down Eragon.
“Eragon!” Juliet was red in the face. “Why did you sit in my bag!?” Eragon looked at her through beady black eyes. He gave a sniff and breathed out tiny flames. He looked pitiful. Alright,” said Juliet, hesitating at scolding a small dragon. “But don’t commit this again. Understand me?” Little Eragon scurried away. “M-m-F-fh” said little Eragon. He tried to breathe fire. Argentina smiled a big dragon’s smile. “Now, now, Eragon, you shouldn’t give your second mother a tough time!” she said.“ I-I’m sorry, I just wanted to explore your bag- and you took me away!” said Eragon softly. Juliet smiled. “Well- I may give you your favorite treat- fish-now if you promise that you will not explore my bag anymore.” “Ooh Fish!-I mean, okay!” “ You naughty dragon! Always taking bribes, don’t you?” And she passed him fish for a snack.
Eragon grew over 2 weeks. He grew only an inch taller, and he still could fit into Juliet’s bag. One time she caught him in her room, eating all the plants and creepers hanging from the ceiling. She gave a cry of fury and Eragon wobbled out of the room. Eragon still couldn’t fly. In dragon world, mostly they started flying when they were 5 inches, but Eragon was only 2. And when Juliet said he should try,he ran away, muttering to himself.
A month passed. Eragon could now breathe fire, but he still couldn’t fly. His mother scolded him for not trying, and Juliet didn’t speak to him for a whole day. Finally, they both agreed he was too young and let him off. Now Eragon was a good 25 inches. He helped Juliet with the fire in the cold night, and his mother was so proud she blushed a deep red in the darkness. “I’m so proud!” she would say. “Such a helpful little dragon!” Hedington was now getting really curious once she noticed that Juliet had paw-prints on her uniform and her hair all bushy. She asked Juliet why, but she just refused to tell Hedington. “What’s wrong with you these days?” she asked. “Nothing…” Eragon was now 26 inches. The better thing, he even flew up 6 feet! Juliet smiled and said, “This is good, but he should try a better height.” One day Juliet woke up tired and went off to work. She reached and found a stern looking Hedington there. Her expression softened when she saw Juliet, but she still looked solemn and angry. She wondered wjat was up with Juliet and when Juliet just refused, that night, Hedington crept over to the forest where Juliet lived, but the place was howling with animals so Hedington thought twice and dashed back home.
