| Spread the news my dears!
http://www.kony2012.com/
The little movie on the site is 30 minutes, fairly long. But just sit down and watch it with your family, your friends, whatever. Join the movement!
Edit: By posting this here I am not implying that anyone should donate to Invisible Children, I'm simply trying to spread awareness of Joseph Kony and the LRA.

| It's a scam. I shall copy and paste what I posted on DA.
First, some things to point out- Kony has been stopped since 2006. This whole thing is a plot to get money by exploiting real issues. But yes, Kony should be punished.
This is what I put on dA:
Before I go any further, let me clarify ONE THING: I absolutely do believe Kony should be given the justice he deserves. This man is a terrible, terrible person.
Now. My problem is with Invisible Children. Do you know why? They're a scam. If you do some research into them, you'd discover that, oh my, they only use 30% of their profit for actual causes! Well, here's the thing. The whole Kony 2012 campaign? Kony is already stopped. No one has seen or heard from him since 2006, and he has since fled Uganda.
So here is when Invisible Children comes in again. I'll just call them IC from now.
So the thing is, these "donations" for "Kony 2012" are supposed to be going to the Ugandan government. Supposedly.
But Kony isn't in Uganda anymore. Do you see the problem? The Ugandan government can't do anything to Kony if he isn't in Uganda. And he isn't in Uganda.
Now. Why is IC doing this? Orginally, IC was founded by 3 filmmakers in 2003. This is when they started filming to Kony footage. Almost 10 years ago. They are a rather shady "foundation", they do not comply with the Better Business Bureau.
Here's a quote I found, it was very well written so I decided to put it here.
"IC gives their 31% of the donations to support multiple troops, including the Ugandan and Sudanese troops. The Ugandan troops continue to rape and kill innocent civilians, and the Sudanese troops recruit child soldiers. Donating your money to fund rape, killing, and further the recruitment of "invisible children" is extremely bad, especially since it's what IC claims to be against."
Adding onto what I said, "Charity Navigator has rated IC 2 out of 4 stars on accountability. In addition, IC has refused to submit the data about their transactions to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which seems a little sketchy."
TL;DR Invisible Children is exploiting real life issues for their own personal profit. Don't donate to them at all. If you want to donate, donate to a reputable charity.

| Well I knew they only used 30% of the profits towards stopping Kony, this is more for people to be aware of what's going on around them. Oh well, I'm just another one of the millions roped into this scam. Though, seeing as they're showing it on national news channels, I don't know if it's as sketchy as you said, Abbey-chan~
Edit: It's also important everyone knows that Kony exists. : )

| @Abbey: I was actually about to post that. The only thing I wasnt aware of, was that Kony has already fled Uganda.
People are seriously really ignorant. I posted in the "Your Day" board where I talked about how I shadowed my friend at his school. Dude, constantly throughout the whole day people were like, "Did you hear about Kony!!?" The WHOLE day. Most of them dont know the first thing about Kony, most of them wont do anything about it, and most of them did no research at all about him after watching the video.
The teacher didnt know who Joseph Kony was, and asked a student to tell her, and she could barely do it. She literally knew nothing about the guy. People are just trying to look like they care about issues in the world to look smarter and cooler.
And why is it that anything that goes on in Africa becomes a huge deal? People are so fricking stupid. We have enough issues here in America and they are easier to fix, because they are here... in America. Why are we helping foreign countries and donating all our money to them, when they could be put to better use over here?
EDIT: Dont get the wrong picture from my post. I'm glad people finally want to do something to help others. That's great. I do get irritated when people try to act like they care about things to act cool, and ignorant people that try to promote things that they know nothing about.

| Egh, I never knew this was a scam...
Although I still think that it is important to spread the word about the issue, and I'm glad that people learned about it, even through a rather disappointing way.

I think the awareness is a great thing. I am very glad to see people joining this cause. :^D I just..ugh..Invisible Children is a terrible company. But still, awareness is good. More people need to know what kind of things go on in 3rd world countries.
