i wonder, how many layers do you use for each drawing? do you have your sketching and lineart/refined linework, should i say, on the same layer??

Wellllll it depends on the piece.
For super quick things that take less than half an hour, I just draw a sketch on paper and scan it. I mess around with brightness/contrast settings until the sketch is nice and dark. After that, I make two layers over it, both on multiply. I colour over it using the eyedropper, then I do all my shading on the third layer. This is usually how I do the drawings here.

For refined pieces with actual lineart, I tend to ink it on paper using whatever pen I find (though I've done digital lineart as well). Then I scan it, set contrast as high as it'll go, and set the paper layer on multiply. Then I do whatever I need to to colour it.

ohhhh, i see! i never thought of doing that!! i should try that, it could save me at least an hour of working on my drawings [[sighs that is, if my tablet will work]]
