Larl's Critique Palace.

It's not finished as I have no idea where to shade on hair, especially the ponytail. I understand that you're supposed to put the shades where light can't reach, but when I tried that there was a whole space with no shading in the middle, making it look plain.

I can't put highlights in, either. Mainly because I don't know where they go xD

Also, I use mouse and Sai. Is there any technique to shade hair with lots of detail using these?

Ignore the coloring, I was messing around (I was going to blur it, but it got mixed up with white. Not pretty. :L). I made the color layer invisible.

Just critique the lineart. But keep in mind it's MLP style.

whoa larl your shading is really blurry and pillow-like!! i don't know if the one on the bottom left corner is supposed to be the finished shading or not, but it's way off, no offence.

yeh the "empty" one would actually look really good if it wasnt for the kinda brown shading on the top

Thanku for the tips c: it really helped, especially the light source on another layer. Then I tried putting shades where you put your highlights, just to see if it looks better and I came with:

Then the shading on the ponytail didn't match the hair on the head, so I changed the shading of that too. I'm not putting it up yet because I'm not happy with it and I should sleep *-*

Question on highlights: They can be any shape,right? Is there any easier and detailed way to do them using mouse? I'd do them individually for clumps but it just doesn't seem as easy when using mouse.

Tablet, and Photoshop. It was intended to be nothing more than a simple skecth. Then I decided to finish it and stuff.

It;s not that bad the mistakes you have is the face shape, eyes, and headband.
You should make your hand move freely when you draw. and the eyes should be the same length at least. and the headband should be longer. Don't forget to make a new layer when you color,shade and stuff.
The video turned horrible.. belch but I told you the critiques above so yeah...

TRY to make the hands/legs the same...
The tail in the beginning should be thin not thick.
The mouth should be ) not 3

Your 'sprites' look good to me ...Sorry but I don't know a lot about sprites or Pokemon...
But There is no mistake in coloring,shading and more.
