Introduction
As in always, Mark Lacario was a
middle school kid. He was only 13, but he has school drama problems.
His class went upside down once he admitted he liked a girl in his
class.... Miranda Sapio. Things go unsudden and turn into war. That's
not all, Fred, his best friend, starts to betray him! Will Mark survive
this and truce with Miranda? Or will he end up being enemies with
Miranda forever?
Chapter 1- Followed ByThe
school bell rang. It wasn't exactly music to my ears, but everything
was going OK. It was April, two more months of school. I was excited. I
hated school. I hated 6th grade. The only thing I looked forward to
everything in school was an outside break, and my best buddy, Fred.
Fred and I hang out on the field everyday and we hang out at McBurger
everyday, our favorite after school lunch hangout.
Me and Fred
walked into the classroom. We sat down for first period. Math isn't a
good way to start my morning, but some teachers are clueless in middle
school.
"Please open up to last night's homework, Page 155 in your math textbook." said Mrs. Zee, our math period teacher.
A
lot of hands went up all of a sudden. That meant "I forgot my homework
at school," or "I didn't do my homework", or "My dog/cat ate my
homework" and so more.
Me and Fred tried so hard not to laugh. This was a daily experience. There were 15 kids with their hands up.
"Do you think something's funny, Mark and Fred?" Mrs. Zee said, walking by us.
We gave her a normal look.
"Uhm, I wasn't laughing." I said, lying through my teeth.
"Err, I was erm... uh.... smiling because today is a special day.." Fred said,
lying through his teeth as well.
"Oh really? Tell me what's so special about today." Mrs. Zee said.
Fred and I gave each other looks with big eyes, then we looked at the teacher.
Lunch Time"I can't believe you went on with your so called Native American holiday lie!" I said, laughing like a loon.
"Yeah well, you know." Fred said, smirking.
We
sat down at the lunch table. Today's lunch was pizza. Me and Fred are
crazy over the school's pizza. I mean, it tastes like the world's
greatest pizza!
Then, Miranda Sapio passed by. She sat down, and flipped her hair.
I looked down at my pizza.
"What's wrong?" asked Fred.
"I erm... it's something about Miranda." I said, trying not to make myself look like a fool.
Fred paused, then finally spoke.
"It's OK, man." Fred said.
He looked at Miranda, then Miranda turned around and said "Something you need?" in her sweet-little-angel voice.
"Oh umm..." Fred said.
I gave Fred the look, that meant "if your my best friend, you keep your mouth shut about any secrets,".
"Umm..." Fred said.
That was the beginning of my first troubling

Chapter 2- Field of ActionSo
it was 2:00 PM, and since we're not ''children", we don't call this
recess. We call it Field Break. Field Break is of course poplar. It's
nothing like a playground. There is some swings, monkey bars, and like,
two slides. Me and Fred sometimes go here after school, and go near our
secret tree. We spy on children and scare them for the fun of it.
Fred
and I are like, best friends. We became best friends in second grade,
when we played in our other school during recess. The first time he
said "Hey, I'm Fred Lucas" and I said "Hi, I'm Mark Lacario", there
would be a great best friend bond.
Field Break- Mission"OK, so what's the plan?" Fred asked, as we were spying in a bush.
Miranda
wandered with her friends. I could tell she was gossiping. When she
noticed us, we jumped into the bush so fast it was faster than wind.
"Too late, am I right?" Fred asked, facepalming himself.
"It can still work..." I said.
"Dude, I can hear walking coming toward the bush!" Fred whispered in a freaked-out way.
Miranda opened the bush and saw us covered in leaves. We looked like chickens.
"Uhm.... hi." I said, waving with my eyesbrow nervously tilting and my teeth clicking.
"What's going on here? Why are you spying on us?" Miranda asked us, with her hands on her hip and her feet tapping.
Fred and I looked at each other and we exchanged looks.
"Um..... because umm...." I said, thinking of an answer.
"Because we wanted to say Happy Native American holiday! Ha ha, ha, hahhh uh..." I said.
Fred gave me the "it's not working" face.
"Oh really? Now tell me the real reason." Miranda said.
I took a deep breath.
"I wanted to know... what kind of soup you like, for an erm.. survey!" acting as excited as possible.
But, she cracked our code.
"Oohh.. I know what's going on!" Miranda said, she smiled at me, and gave Fred a half smile.
She walked away, taking a prediction, she's gossiping about "The Great Friends and one wants Love".
But, Fred high-fived me. I decided to high-five him back.
"Dude, you're in there!" Fred said.
Yeah, I'm in there, in
doom.

Chapter 3- Leading to Trouble
Me,
Miranda, and Fred walked around the field. We've been hanging ot for a
whole week now. Me and Miranda were like good friends. Thank goodness
Fred didn't feel like a third-wheel at the moment.
"At the moment".
"Hey Miranda, want to come to McBurger after school?" I asked her.
"McBurger food rocks. They never use old food, and it's worth waiting 15 minutes for their delicious fresh food." Fred said.
Miranda didn't respond.
"You heard us, right?" I asked Miranda.
"Oh, yes, I did." Miranda said, smiling, and she kept walking.
"So you up for McBurger?" I asked.
Miranda sighed, and stopped walking. Me and Fred stopped walking as well.
"Mark, I know you like me, but you kinda act like... we're dating." Miranda said, sighing again.
Fred looked at me, I looked at Fred. We looked at Miranda.
"Oh umm..." I said, with no solid comment.
"We're just... friends... for now." Miranda told me.
"Excuse me, but what does 'for now' supposed to mean?" Fred asked.
"Fred..." I said.
"Well," Miranda said. "it's just that, I don't think I'm ready."
"Miranda, you're single." Fred said.
"Fred, enough." I said. "That's cool Miranda." I said.
There was no reason for me to feel down.
"I cant come to McBurger after school. I have to go to a family dinner." she said.
And she walked away. For like, no reason.
"What is her problem?" Fred said, rolling his eyes.
"We'll really see if she is having a family dinner." I said to Fred he gave me a confused look, but then he smiled.
We smiled, our big smile meant "Time for a plan!".

Chapter 4- Calling for Take Cover
I
went over to Fred's house this afternoon. We had a great plan. We were
gonna call Miranda's house, and ask her mom if she's there, that's if
her mother/father is at home!
"OK, I dial, you just stand back." I said. Fred nodded his head a yes.
I waited a minute or two until Miranda's mom said "Hello?".
"Hi, this is Mark Lacario, may I speak to Miranda, please?" I said.
"Who's this?" Mrs. Sapio said.
I just said who I was!
"Mark Lacario, her friend." I repeated.
"OK, hold on."
"I
knew it!" I shouted. "Her mom was home, so I thought Miranda was
probably with her grandparents," I said to Fred, "and then she gets
Miranda! She's a-"
"What a liar, why would you want her, man?" Fred said, facepalming himself.
I didn't know what to say.
"Hello?" Miranda said through the phone.
"Beep, boop, beep, bop." I said through the phone, and hung up.
"What a loser..." Fred said.
I guess I could say that I agree.....

Chapter 5- Betrayed, From Love
The next day, I walked into school with the bummest look ever. My eyes were lowered down that shown my grumpy look.
Fred seemed to be mad about this Miranda situation as well.
We both walked into the classroom, unpacked, took our seats, and prepared for the day.
Field Break
It was finally field break. I sat near the fence, checking my watch every 2 minutes. No mood for the field today.
Then, someone touched my shoulder. I turned around and it was Fred.
"I have an idea!" Fred said with the happiest face I ever saw him with.
"I don't have time for your vicious roleplays at the moment..." I said, walking away.
But, he followed me.
"Wait, I'm not kidding! I have a plan!" he said, walking aside of me.
"OK, what?" I yelled in his face.
He paused for a second, then he spoke.
"OK, well, why don't we just follow Miranda around? That might be stupid, but if we know what she's doing, we'll see why she lied yesterday." Fred said with a smile, and he patted my back.
But it did NOT make me feel any better. But, what's the worse that could happen?
I did actually like this idea....
"Let's do this!" I said, high-fiving Fred.
