062613 | A bit irritated.

Hi. I'm irritated and 17 years old and still Internet monitored, can you believe it? My laptop, PC, and even our smart TV is blocked from the Internet. What does my dad think I should do? Homework? Oops I'm out of school. Get a job? Oops I have a vacation soon I'll just tell them I need the 7th, 10th, and 22-28th off I'm sure I won't get fired. Hang out with friends? Oops, I have to stay home with my little brother while both parents work. I'm stuck in a corner. I just want my dad to let easy on the restrictions and leave me be. I'm not a bad kid or anything. I'm not doing drugs, drinking, or getting pregnant. All I want is to play video games and use the Internet. Is that so bad and corrupting?!

Two words: Overprotective Dad.

It sounds like you might need to have a serious discussion with your father. He's being wayyy overprotective and should definitely allow you more freedom seeing as how you're 17!
I personally have never had my internet usage or anything monitored and nine times out of ten when I stumble across 'bad' things on the internet it's either because I was looking for them or because I was browsing through Tor (making it my fault, really).
Anyway, just point out to your dad that you're 17 now and both old and responsible enough to be in charge of your own internet usage and whatnot.

Your dad I think wants you to still be his little girl... Also I think he is being way over protective. When you 17 and still being monitered. I haven't been monitered since I was 9 (considering that is when I learned how to go on the computer.) I hope you talk to your dad about that.

He just wants to see that you are not on any bad websites. But I agree, he is being to over protective. Try to talk to him about it.
