| ^ in general, i think what makes it appear confusing is that it looks very flat. like, on the face, the shading lines are fairly straight. and that's totally fine in some cases!! but faces do have round attributes, and in order to achieve that appearance with shading you'd need to make the light area more rounded and enlarged. same thing with the clothes, try shading around the shapes and rounder areas.
also, the light source is in kind of a weird spot?? it looks to be coming from below him, which is an unusual place for a light source (unless it's coming from something off-page, in which case i would recommend including it in the drawing)).
as for the afro, i'd help you with that but i can't shade afros for the life of me,,,,,, soryr friend | |
