?Can someone help me with GIMP/Paint XP?

So as some of you ppl know I have my Re-Color Shop and such,
For ALL if my creations so far I have been using Paint XP (I think its it, the new one??),
And have been doing it pixel by pixel (TAKES FOREVA!) but then I found out,
That you could use a eraser trick, The first time I found out about it was by Weekays,
But I did not ask her how to do it, I looked it up online but I can't do it right!
Then I tried using GIMP,
I looked how to re-color with it but its confusing, and I don't get the layer thing.

So know I don't know what to do after I know a couple of ways to re-color but,
I don't understand them and pixel by pixel takes to long and the eraser trick,
Is supposed to be more trust worthy.

I used gimp and it only took me 30 minutes but my trick is to use the color can to use what you can sometimes it will take a while. it matters on the project.

Ok so you pick the color you want to rid of and pick the color you want on the right side. Thats the eraser side. Ok so right click and HOLD ON AND SCRIBBLE! Its easier than it sounds
