How to make borders in gimp. For Banners/Icons

Today I shall teach you how to make a border looking like this:


1) Finish up your banner or make a banner/icon.

2) Then make a new layer and go to select>border. And enter the number how big you will like it to be. (I usually use 2 or 5)

3) Get a color like white and color in the border. It should look like this now:

Then on your keyboard press down Ctrl Shift and A. At the same time. Or go to the select and click none.

4) After that go to the mode. It should be above the layers. It looks like this.

Then choose a mode. I use Overlay. Then you can mess around with them

5) Voila~ You made a border for your graphic! It should end up like this!
