Voting Rights/Gay Rights Empty
PostSubject: Voting Rights/Gay Rights   Voting Rights/Gay Rights Icon_minitimeWed Feb 27, 2013 8:32 pm

I just heard on TV that they will take away a part of the Voting Rights Act (1965) that makes sure that people give the right to vote to not just African Americans, but any minority, even poor Caucasains! This makes me SOOOOO angry. People literally DIED for the right to vote, and conservatives want to take that away.

Oh yea, Also people have made progress on Gay rights, but people in the NFL are being denied to play because they are gay. They have to LIE just to make sure that they keep their jobs. This is SUPER WRONG, considering the fact that thousands of people are unemployed. Even in times of crisis, people stay hateful.

It's almost like the time is going back 200 years. Mad Sad Mad

EDIT: Im sorry that I am going political on you guys. I just was ranting because this affects me ALOT (I'm African American). So, if you want, you can express your opinion here.

OMG that is upsetting. I hope they fix this soon! Plus, I have family-friends that are gay.

Thats really sad though, gays should seriously have more rights. Just as much as a straight person. I don't get why people think that being gayis bad. Its exactly the sane as being straight. I don't know what is my sexuality to be honest though

Thats awful! What's wrong with being Gay? NOTHING!

My sister has a really close guy friend who's gay, and he's REALLY nice. He's an artist, and he's amazing!

I don't understand why people make such a big deal.

I live in Canada, though, but I just wanted to share my opinion :p

Long paragraph.

I actually don't see anything wrong with being gay. Many people have different backgrounds, interests, and have personalities. Then what is so wrong about liking someone of the same gender? Just because what people normally think what pairs (boy and girl) is irrelevant. As long as you love somebody, it's really great. This NFL thing is upsetting, it's just judging people by who they love.
Take for example Kubo from Baka and Test. He also can have a kawaii pairing with Akihisa. Hideyoshi might be homosexual for all I know and I will still love him. Madoka and HomuHomu isn't "weird" etither. *yaoi magazines fall over *

the first one i honestly don't see how it's bad?? yeah african americans worked hard to get the right to vote bUT that doesn't mean they can't share the rights!! from what you wrote, it sounds like they're just giving everyone the right to vote, which is a good thing to do! just because one race was discriminated against fifty years ago doesn't mean that the other race should be less privileged; that's not equality. i think everyone should have a say in who their leader is, including poor people, so i completely support it.

however, i don't find it fair that some people are being unable to play something like football. the only reason i can see for the people in NFL not wanting gay players on their team is that they're worried they'll distract the straight players. but really, gay people aren't dumb enough to go kissing every guy they associate with- let alone a football team, so i don't think they should be forced not to play a sport just because of their sexuality.

yeaHh my response is probably realleley confudsing sory

I didn't make it clear. That my my fault.

They are not trying to get people to share to share the rights, they are taking it away. They are taking it away from minorites and poor people. They tired to do it last year when president Obama tryed to reelect for president. They will keep doing it. Because they think they can. THAT'S NOT EQUALITY!!! Sad

You have no clue how close I was to blowing up reading this. Oh and it's not because of anything except for that last sentence. No offense, but who ever told you that had to be stupid. Do you realize how much trouble there would be if a republican actually said that? It wouldn't be that same bashing the idiots at nbc and abc (sorry, but they're idiots. They talked about Marco Rubio drinkin' water during an interview being a career end-er... that's just utter stupidity) already put towards republicans, it would such a huge story that you'd hear about it in school, at the store on every TV station.

The fact that you've been led into believing that republicans are always out to get the minorities and little people isn't your fault (this is just how you came off to me in your comment, don't take offense please). But come on... did you even look it up? You really need to do some research of your own when it comes to politics, truthfully I only watch fox news because the media bias is so bad (yes I'm well aware of it being in fox news as well, I look things up, something most Americans don't do) everywhere else I can't trust it.

Just wanna add that republicans have done a lot for black's rights (good ol' Honest Abe was republican... but we also have to remember he didn't want to abolish slavery either ;D... you'd also be surprised at how many republicans over democrats wished to pass the Civil Rights Act) and in no way would they as a whole party would wish to rid the Blacks of their rights.

Yes, I'm a little ticked off, I'm sick of the pure stupidity and ignorance of the country. We are being "dumbed" down and once every one wakes the HECK up it'll be too late. I'm both Caucasian and a very open-minded conservative, so that's kinda why this irked me.

As for gay rights, let them have their rights! I'm so sick of people basing their disapproval off their religion. God loves all and Jesus taught us to love and not judge others( no I'm not a christian, I'm spiritual tho ;o), yet I see so many people go against this it's just crazy! Gays have every right to be unified with the one they love (I say unified because marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman. However, don't mistake that as me being against the unification of two men or two women. If it were to be named something else I have absolutely no problem with it.) I have great gay, lesbian, and bisexual friends (and I kinda have considered being with another woman... I don't see it being long-term or anything, but hey I have an open mind and if the right woman came along...) and they are some of the best, most amazing people I know.

Oh the long-ness o3o

and no I didn't proof-read as you can tell c:

i honestly just think they should call it marriage who cares if its "man and a woman..." just if the priest is ok with it and they're both religious they should be able to have a religious ceremony and if not it should still be called a marriage because my aunt didn't marry her husband in a church but they still called it marriage.

i think it's ridiculous how it shouldn't be called that. that's alienating them, saying they're different putting them in a little box to just stay there because "you cant be with us youre different haah Razz" its pathetic like we shouldn't separate them we should just let them be with straight people i mean coME ON it's alienation its stupid and ughhhhhhhhhhh marriage lost its religious meanign years ago haha
just call it marriage.

@relora: on the conservative thing, abe was a really long tiem ago and of course a whole party wouldn't do that, that's ridiculous, but the truth it is mostly republicans and conservatives who think this. obviously not as a whole, nmaybe not even as a majority, but a bigger amount of conservatives believe this than liberals. but yeah it's not all of them, also!!
over time their beliefs have changed a lot so u___u
BUT it is dumb to judge a whole party (but fox news is just as biased as other news channels, relora, but since it's biased and talks about everything in a conservative manner, it's easier for you to take, which is why i imagine you watch it instead of CNN, a more democratic news channel. i applaud you for researching thougH!! i really dont care about politics so i dont but woo go you)

thats all

Yea I know Fox is just as biased (the only real reason I watch it is because of my dad and my own interest and familiarity with the channel... heck the only show I had fun watching was Glenn Beck and that was taken off air :/) I just wish there's was a reliable news source that presented both sides of the story from an unbiased pov, but that's isn't gunna happen any time soon >.<

As for what you say about gay right, I didn't even think about it like that and you raise a good point. This is where I needa do some research. I don't dabble into gay rights because I don't care what someone's sexuality is, as long as they don't try to "shove it down my throat" I'm completely fine. I thank you for your comments o3o

That is terrible! Gays, African Americans, Caucasians, heck anybody should have the right to do what they want! The US is supposed to be a free country but I mean seriously, you call this free? People shouldn't be treated by what color skin they have or what gender they like. This is screwed up ok and I'm just going to stop here but yeah... Screwed up!
