hiragana is the chiz

@Byakku: XD. Well obviously if you just teach yourself the language then expect to remember it, it's not gonna stick. Also, learn katakana first only if you're going to visit Japan. If you're trying to learn the language, hiragana is more immediately important.

But it said Hiragana isn't commonly used unless your talking to a foreigner or somfin' like that.

Talking to a foreigner? Why would you use hiragana when talking? That makes no sense.

All right, that odd word choice aside, that's rather incorrect. Yes, it used in children's books or what writing for someone who's learning the language, but it is also used for:

-Particles.
-Words without specific kanji like "totemo".
-As I have already mentioned, children's books.
-Things written by teenagers.
-Things with kanji that is not commonly used.
-Verb endings.
-Native words.
-Suffixes
-Some kinds of informal writing.
-Verb and adjective inflections, like "-shita"
-Pronunciation guides and furigana.

Whereas Katakana is just used to give emphasis, for onomatopoeic words, or for foreign words.

FINE YOU USE IT WHEN WRITING TO FOREIGNERS! :[ *Shot shot shot*
