Coloring jeans?? i need help (ART)

Ok i am doing a lot of art online but i dont know how to do jeans. I am talking about how you color jeans to make them like look like jeans. I will show you a example what i need help it is confusing. Also how do i make rips in jeans or shorts.

when i do jeans usually i just shade them as i shade everything else but then i go on google and find a denim texture, paste it on, scale it down, and then lower the opacity/put it on overlay/play with settings. i press the "layer clip" button so that it stays to what you already colored in and doesnt go outside of the lines. the rips i kind of just made random shaped holes in the jeans, and then on a layer underneath the jean layer (but still above the skin layer) i took a color close to the jeans and drew small horizontal lines to look like threads. maybe i should make a tutorial??

If you made a tutorial it would be awesome,but if your busy and have stuff to do its fine if you don't. It's up to you :3
