| My little sister is in Kindergarden and she has this nice teacher named Ms.Horton. She has a very high reading level and can read like a second grader. But her teacher gave her Main Idea and Details homework, for a Kindergardener!? I think that is waay to much for her. What do you think? | |

| I do feel that this is too much for her! I mean, I started getting that kind of work in second/third grade, youngest maybe first. (I don't exactly remember) I was more focused in spelling and writing at that age (And you know, numbers and adding and such.)

| I don't know, but I think it's too much. I never went to kindergarten.
But in first grade we read books like...
Mat has a dog.
The dog has spots.
Run dog, run! | |

| I think it's too much because to me, focusing on the main idea including supporting details is kind of hard for a kinder gardener. Although, your sister is really smart, so I guess she can do it. I still disagree with getting homework like that. You must at least get that kind of homework when you're around second to third grade. | |

| Well.... You could be right and wrong.
Yes its to much for their little minds but it gives them a head start on things they may learn. Just like in Elementary, the teach you things to be ready for 2nd than 3rd than 4th than 5th than a brief thought on Middle School work. Kindergarteners should at least get an idea on how it would be next year. | |

| Yeah I think that is too much, I think I might of started getting this kind of work in like 3rd or 4th grade. o.o My elementary school wasn't all that good so yeah. I can see people getting that stuff in private schools earlier though since they expect way more. | |

| If she can read like a second grader than she can get second grade material. I myself have a reading level way above my peers and the work I got when I had a reading class was usually higher level. It actually isn't that hard, she should be fine. If she has trouble your parents can simply have a talk with teacher so that they may accommodate your sister's book smarts ^^ | |
