I dont know what to do:(

So I have 2 cousins on one side of my family. One of them is 8 years old, and ond of them is 10. The 10 year old is a guy, the other one is a girl.

So they got hamsters a couple days ago, and the hamsters are siblings. They both wanted one in their room. When my aunt got the cages, and put them in different rooms, something went wrong. The hamsters cant be without each other, and one of them refused to eat because of it. We cant change my cousins minds about putting the hamsters together.  It is not like I can just go to their houses, they live 2 hours away from me. What should I do?

Also I might get a hamster since my small swimming frog died a while ago, so I was wondering what I should name it if I get one.

Help on both of these?

First problem: Make your cousins understand that what they are doing could be considered abuse. Ask them how they would like it if something they needed wasn't allowed to be with them, and they would die without it. Let them know these hamsters need each other to live.

Second problem: For a male, Chunky. For a female, Ariel!

That is animal abuse. That is a fedral officnse. Their parents could be jailed for that sort of thing. Put them in the den or living room

I agree with what Flower said for problem one. Try telling them that its selfish to keep them apart, especially since that one stopped eating.
Honestly I think your cousins should have gotten two of those hamsters that don't like other hamsters so everything could be fine.

And I think you should name your hamster something food related like Sweetie, Chocolate, Marshmallow, Pancake, etc uwu

call one of them "oliver" and the other one "olivia"
ok also theyre idiots theyre gonna die that way so they NEED to put them together

Dwarf hamsters. THEY SHOULD'VE GOTTEN THEM! I had two and I had them in the same cage, because I didn't know they weren't suppose to be with each-other. One killed the other..

Saying from my experience with keeping small animals as pets, if you want your pet to socialize mainly with people than you can't house them with another animal or they'll ignore you. On the other hand, if you choose not to keep two animals together than you really need to be with them almost 24/7 or else they get lonely to the point that they die.

And in answer to what Ello_Love said, no, It's not animal abuse. They probably just didn't know. Animal abuse is when you cause an animal suffering and/or death with the intent of doing so. If it was a mistake, then you can't go to jail for it.

give them a smackerdoodle upside the head and tell them "youre hurting these innocent hamsters by putting them in the middle of starvation"

or just get another hamster

Also I would go take the hamster from one cage and put it next to the other hamster no matter what they do.
