How come new members can't post external links for 7 days?

The title is my question.
I kinda find it an odd rule.
I wanted to show you guys a banner i did a year ago, but the title popped up.

It prevents spamming. If you get a bunch of spamming members, then we'll have like another spam attack.

It's to prevent spam bots from advertising, or posting porn and such.

External links aren't even allowed on the forum unless putting them in your signature.

7 days isn't that long of a wait, anyway.

Maybe since they are new, and they don't want them to post anything bad or bad links?

Like youtube vids arent allowed, links to articles, links to games, etc. I mean that just seems a little ridiculous to me.

That reminds me of that post heartsNARIA posted last year, which is so true, but that's just my opinion, except for most of the personal info section but yeah.

i dont mind waitning seven days, i mean seriously, whats wrong with doing it?
i personally wouldnt even go on forum for seven days in a row

I agree safety precaution I guess you could say

It's considered advertising. Just wait 7 days. And you can just insert youtube links

Wait, so linking to a Youtube video is considered advertising, and to an article that isn't by you, I kinda disagree on not letting us post to articles.

Oh okay, but could you please add it so I don't get confused again.

Advertising is not allowed, I understand that, but you said no external links are allowed to be posted.

I'm a little confused. My understanding was that we are not allowed to post any external links to advertise something we would benefit from. Is that correct, or are there other restrictions to what we can link.

That is correct. Anything that you can "benefit" from (aside from youtube videos, those are fine) is not allowed to be posted. And, anything that breaks our rules (such as inappropriate content) is not allowed to be posted.

If you have a question about a link, just PM a mod/admin and we will tell you if it is alright to post. Smile

You are allowed to post videos, articles, etc.. Just don't go all, "HEY GUYS LOOK AT MAH YOUTUBE VIDEO PLEASE LIKE IT!" or "LOOK AT THIS ARTWORK I DID NOW GO ON MY DEVIANT ART AND WATCH ME!'' and yeah.

Am I right?

Yes. Correct, because your two examples were advertisement.
