i died and came back to life. those are awesome, do u use gimp?

I use Paint Tool SAI and I have an Intuos 4 tablet.

The actual drawing just comes from practicing. Razz

I have sai, but no clue how to draw with it. I have a post all about it named "I need help with SAI" I can't find it though. U should make a tutorial and post it on here. That would save 1,000,000s of lives :3

I have two questions

Question One: How do you create the textured effect on the hair? It's gorgeous and very realistic and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.

Question Two: I do very involved pencil linework, so I'm having trouble preserving the shading and stuff that I've already done when colouring digitally. I also have to do the colouring all by hand, because the parts of the drawing are not in neat sections that can be filled with the bucket or magic wand tool. Any tips?

1. I don't really understand what you mean by textured effect? I just basically draw the hair lineart (with lots of strands in it) then I use the marker tool to color it. Then when I'm done I have a noise/paperish texture that I overlay onto it.

2. Ehh, I don't really know. I'm not a traditional artist, nor do I ever have to convert pencil drawings into digital drawings. See, I just draw directly on the computer. Sketches and all. I don't really trace my paper drawings, sorry. :U
