How do I become a moderator?

Well I want to be one. How do I? Sorry wrong selection my computer won't go on forum lounge.

Sorry to disappoint you, but you can't just "become" a moderator. They have to be in need of one, which they aren't right now, even though I think we need another one. If I could appoint anyone as a moderator, I would appoint Relora. But I can't do that unfortunately. And there's so much spam that we SERIOUSLY need another moderator here!

Thanks guys. But I need more experience before I can become a moderator, and I don't think I will ever be appointed. The spam on Fantage Forum is a huge issue, and the moderators and administrators are making a HUGE effort to clean it up. Unfortunately, their contributions have been failing, and people still continue to spam. They are doing exceptionally at their job, it's just not working. We can't blame them. We can only blame the spammers. But thank you.

Our moderators are working as hard as possible, but their efforts are failing. It's not under their control. However, I appreciate your desire to make me a moderator. Thank you!

First of all, our efforts are not failing. Another moderator would not help the situation at all. What we need is for Mace or Cyrus to void the register feature. That would not allow new users to join until they turned it back on.

Second, you're appointed a mod. I believe it's stated somewhere that asking to be one lowers your chances. Same with thinking you're entitled to becoming one. *cough*

I think that the moderators are doing all that they can. They can't just do everything right. A person can't always get a 100%. S and Charolette and Mace and Makkine and Abbey and Cyrus are awesome moderators. I say they're doing all they can to prepare for wave three if there will be one. Who cares if they're spamming? You may, but I don't. I can ignore it.

You are chosen to be a mod when you are appointed by mace (and/or maybe cyrus?) OR when they have mod applications ^^

Unfortunately, there are no mod applications at this time and I don't see mace (and/or cyrus?) appointing another one at this time. Keep hoping though ^^

The thing with most of you guys is that while you're mature for your age, you're all fairly young. You can be much more mature than people your own age but that doesn't mean you're as mature and responsible as someone older. A kit if the younger members that are like 11 are much more mature than most 11 year olds I've encountered, however that doesn't make them nearly as mature as someone who is much older.

And - also - the spam isn't as huge a deal as you think, if they had gotten spam bots and spammed literally everything then that'd be huge. But we're doing our best to clean it up fast and there's no way to prevent it. However, the spammers severely dumb and don't know how to use a proxy and this is literally one of the worst spamming attempts I've seen, as S said. I know it can get you in trouble so for about a week or so, just don't click on any new threads by new users.

you kinda gotta work for it yknow. and you really dont want to be one
its not as fun or cool as you think considering how hard it is to keep the forum neat
being a moderator on this forum was easier before the userbase became younger. it was also easier when the other staff (one moderator and two admins) werent as inactive
people kinda grew outta the forum i guess
its kinda tricky to keep a place runnin this long
but
if you want to be a mod read the rules and follow em

Actually, I have been rather impressed with the job the moderators are doing. Just because they can't all be online 24/7 doesn't mean they're not doing their job's responsibly. Abbey, S and Makkine are doing great. It's the administrators who are neglecting their jobs. They aren't on the forum anymore, and they don't trust anyone but themselves with the job of administrating. Also, I don't think I would call animal_lover responsible, at least not responsible enough for a job this large.

Yea I'm one of the youngest people here. And about the spamming issue, I'm relatively new here so I'm not exactly sure who takes care of what. And by the "efforts are failing" part, I meant that the spam is getting cleaned up and you guys are doing a great job with that, but the spammers keep coming back. I would give solutions if I could but I don't know a lot about this kind of stuff. But keep up the good work, and the spammers will most likely go away.

I still feel that we just need more privileges, not more admins/moderators. Like a few people here can lock topics, some people here can move topics to their correct location. Some people here can moderator the people who say bad words. Some people here can remove the images put on a post. Some people here can view who are the people joining.
But apparently only moderators can do that.

I think I know what you are saying, but in that context, it's almost like you are suggesting that we give new people and spammers jobs here. I agree. The moderators are doing a great job at their jobs, but between the spamming (although the spammers have done a really dumb job), and the other responsibilities, we really need Mace and Cyrus. But the moderators are trying their best and they are cleaning it up, but the spammers just keep coming back. And people are quoting it. Quoted spam IS spam. But yea, I totally agree with abstract. There should be "departments" of the forum. Like moderating the language, removing inappropriate pictures, cleaning up spam, etc. Just some advice to Fantage Forum!

I meant like give admin powers to those worthy people. (With all this "drama" rolling in though, I seriously know no one on FF now who can take the lead of helping this place. I mean there are certain people, but we still need them active.)
The mods are doing the best they can. (I know I know, already said.) We just need more people to support them while they are offline. If you were a mod, and had to handle all of this nonsense, I'd also be sickened because of some people who feel that mods aren't trying hard enough. Then those mods could quit, and we'll have no mods. Having a mod is better than having no mods at all.

Yea, I agree with you. The administrators should come online more frequently. I think we should temporarily hire someone to help clean up the spam, as stupid as it is lol.

Yea that post was a little offensive, but I doubt that Grenade will be banned for it. It's just a silly little post, it's not directed at one person and the insult isn't very good.
