My paint tool sai is acting like a butt

[center]Okay i've decided to learn to Shade anime,because I don't know how to shade at all.I didn't feel like drawing my own picture,so I decided to get a colouring page of anime on Google Images.Now,I saved my image as a .PNG and when I downloaded it and went back to Paint Tool Sai to open the photo,it said ''canvas cannot open'' .Like when I looked for the photo it was like all white for example:



Instead of there being a picture,it was just white.I did save as a PNG and everything but it just wouldn't open.
Can you help me??

Even though you save it into .PNG it wouldn't get white because you didnt make the background into transparent.

hmmm, that's odd..

normally sai opens .png image files, so i don't know why you're encountering this. were you opening the image from the downloads folder??

Yea I was :[ I wanna learn to shade but if I can't get a picture then I won't learn1!

Have the picture open in a window next to Sai, perhaps?

Or you could simply start over and look for a good shading tutorial instead. That works too.
