Thoughts about Same-Sex Marriage?
I support it, I think its stupid how its illegal in places. e.e

Anyway, I am a strong supporter of this motion, and would like it to be completely legal in most countries. However, in theocracies that outlaw same-sex marriage for religious purposes, ho0w do you intend to solve this problem without potentially offending someone or taking away religious rights?

If people want to get married, why not? It's not like you can control your sexuality and I'm sure if you could choose what/who you were attracted to then a lot of people would... yes, they should just legalize it.

It should be legalized, like said above, they're trying to make it illegal because of religious reasons.
Which is pretty stupid... I mean, why don't they make a religion where you have to be a homo-sexual or bi-sexual? You'd be fighting religion with religion, and the U.S. has freedom of religion so that fixes it in the U.S.
Now, to see about the other countries. (Sorry, I'm not very familiar with other country's government.)

A lot of people go around saying "IT IS WRONG!! YOU ARE SINNING! GO TO HELLO (Ya know what I mean?)!!!" or stuff like that just because it's against some religions. I think whoever say those kind of things are wrong themselves. This thing happened once on Fantage EU...

well, in the bible it is illegal, since God made us to marry a opposite gender and "Make love" and giv birth in 9 months.....

Its not like i hate them and we all have different opinions. Freedom isnt jumping on cars in America or crazy stuff like that its different opinions. Like mine. Hope you understand. Mmm... I'm too young to know exactly what sexuality I am, but I've never judged anyone because of that.
Anyway... The whole religion thing... I mean, most of the people who revolt against it don't even follow most of the Bible's other rules. So, why bother follwing this one? They never tried before... They're just using it as an excuse. I seriously don't see anything at all wrong with being attracted to the same gender.

You can't choose to be a lesbian, bi, gay, or straight. Sure, you can pretend to like a certain gender but your friend isn't going to get any satisfaction from pretending to like women or girls.

Sex is a healthy natural thing. The fact that people want to disallow gay marriage because of religion or morals is absurd. I'll never understand why people want to dissallow others to live a happy life. It's not like you'll have to live the life of somebody if they want to marry.

@Tahtahtah: Well, most religions are pretty outdated. The thing is, people aren't stupid for believing in them, and and some people feel that homosexuals marrying is an insult to their religious freedom. I know it doesn't sound like it makes much sense, but ah well.

In any case, I feel like this thread is taking a turn for the America-centric. There are countries out there with their politics based on religion (they're called theocracies), and saying that "buuhuu y dont they just stop???" would be pretty ignorant.

Anyway, once again, I'm going to reiterate one of my most common points when discussing religious ethics: it's very hard to change the basic beliefs of a religion, but it's relatively easy to change the personal beliefs of a person. Christians no longer believe you have to throw stones at adulterers, but that is still in the bible. So funding education that supports tolerance would be a good move.

I get what you're saying, and I wasn't saying that people are stupid for believing religions. I was just pointing out that some of the common, everyday rules are broken all the time and I see no point in following this one.
It just doesn't make much sense to me. And now that I think about it... I don't see any point in arguing about it. Even if same-sex marriage it illegal, people are going to revolt, or find a way around it. And if it's only marriage, it doesn't stop them from dating, or living together. There's no real way to stop people from being Bi or Gay/Lesbian. I would say "you can't stop love." But I'm not a cheesy person.

As someone whose heritage is a theocracy, it really annoys me when people just say "HOMG YOO GUYS R BAD CHANGE UR WAYS NAOW!!!!1!one!". I mean, I personally may disagree with what SOME (not all, SOME) people in Iran say, but I respect their opinion(s). :\
