i triied to change mah username and i confirmed my password and made a new pass but this showed up

You just enter a new username, scroll down and click save. Don't click modify, it'll lead you to another page that allows you to change your password. Did you click that on accident?

You just click Profile, and then the very first thing says Username*. You don't click modify password, it's the first text box with your current username.
