Chapter One

"Mom, I'm serious..."
"Me too, Rach...the last party you went to all the kids were..."
"I know, Mom. But was I one of them?"
"No, but-"
"But what? Why can't I go!?"
"Because I said s-"
"MO-"
"Because I SAID SO! Go to your room, Rachel Lynn. That's the last I wanna hear from you for the next 24 hours."

With tears in my eyes I felt like screaming I hated my mother. This was Alicia Danforth's party! Everyone knew to be cool, you had to go.
And since Logan, my boyfriend, was going, I was afraid another girl would make him cheat on me.
I could NOT let that happen.

Maybe it would now...I pictured him dancing with another girl...her nose in his neck...Animal by Ke$ha playing(our song), and him lightly kissing the top of her head, and then he'd move to her lips and-

I slammed my door.

"Don't slam!" Mom yelled, not sounded as frazzled as she had earlier, moreso tired.
"TOO LATE!" I screamed back, not at all tired.
I sobbed into my hand-knit pillow and then threw shoes at my wall.
"Ew, Doc Martens." The boot hit my mirror. Then I had an idea.

What if I sneak out? The voice inside my head urged me to do it.
I was ready. I was NOT going to let another girl steal Logan.

Or miss my chance to be cool.

I reapplied my mascara, touched up my eyeliner, and put on clear cherry-flavored lip gloss. My blonde, wavy hair was perfectly conditioned from earlier, and my deep navy blue eyes were shining and gleaming, part tears and part excitement.

I looked at my outfit: ripped dark-wash skinny jeans, Aeropostale shortsleeve pink shirt, and black Ugg boots.

Perfect.

I climbed out my window, jumped down on the roof, and snuck around the side of the house.
Then I ran.
