| I'ma book-worm, but it has been a long time since I've read because of school and such.
The last book I read was "quidditch through the ages", and the last actual book I read was "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," All I have to say is, J.K Rowling, you have a new fan.
I don't have a favorite book, (although I throrougly enjoyed Life of Pi), but I have a favorite author. Kate DiCamillo. She harnesses your emotions, and she has powers of allegory and writing that have remained unmatched by anything since I first picke dup "The Tale of Desperaux" in 3rd grade.

i love haddix and cornelia funke (inkheart series and theif lord) and i want to read the hunger games next idk who the author is but my sister says the books are awesome. right now im reading a pretty good book called Troy High by Shana Norris. its not really my type of book though. no offense to stephanie meyers, but she writes at a second grade level. again not trying to be mean but i mean its for teens soooo...
anyway, if you like fantasy read inkheart series. im also gonna read a book called beautiful creatures (might be a series) and i think older people on this forum would like it.

The one who wrote the Shadow Children series? I read those in fifth grade, I swallowed them whole. She is surely a master of suspence. I loved her books, how could I have forgotten abotu her? I haven't read much of Cornelia Funke, but I read Inkheart and loved it. She has a wonderful writing style, but they could certainly get dull at times. However, you should really read them due to the wonderful mastery she has over world-building. I read Dragon Rider a looooong time ago, and it is also a great book. READ THE HUNGER GAMES. If you like Haddix, you will love The Hunger Games. The second book is not really all that great, but the first one makes up for it and the third one makes you completely forget about it as it bombards you with pure, undistilled awesomeness. Stephanie Meyers should be ashamed to call herself a "writer". The prose she uses is reminiscent of Mary Sue fanfics, and the plots are basically non-existent, and, when present, patently ridiculous. She has potential (however small it might be) in characterization, if it weren't for the dull main characters. @Sarah and other Otaku: MANGA FTW.

yes, i agree about funke. at times in the inkheart book, i feel asleep :p (probably cuz i read it at eleven at night, but whatever) and stephanie meyers should be banned from publishing books. she could have made cool characters out of jasper and alice and she just left them alone. no character development whatsoever.

Oh, I wouldn't discourage her from writing, and I am strongly against censorship even if she deserves it. HOWEVER! She needs practice. A few year's worth, maybe more. And a screen of editors. Once she can write something mildly decent, we'll see.

| My newest favorite author to add to the author list is:
Jonathan Strout He is the writer of the Bartimaeus Triliogy. Such a good sense of humor, much snarkiness and I wouldn't recommend them to younger readers, as they're confusing, and the second and third book are extremely dark.
Brian Jacques The author of the Redwall Abbey Story things. (There like 20 books and he's still writing happily). They are such classics for me. :]

| Yes, I'm a bookworm. Sort of. I enjoy reading school books(when and where I'm not supposed to read, I learn more that way), and fact books where I can learn stuff from. I also enjoy fantasy and sci-fi novels. Not that interested in reading love-themed books, those are usually boring. Over-describing books make me tired. I've read a few book series. The individual(non-series) books aren't that memorable to me. The series I've read through, are:- Harry Potter:
It was a few years ago I read it though, so I don't remember that much. But I have sorta been a fan of it. After reading the last book, the fan-ness slowly calmed down. I'm not exactly a fan anymore, but I still like it. And mom reading the first book for my youngest brother refreshes my memory of it. It's awesome as always.
- The Chronicles of Narnia:
Yes, I did read those, too. I didn't like the 4th book, it was sorta scary for me. Not going to spoil anything either. Other than that, I sorta liked this series.
- Animorphs!:
As opposed to Harry Potter, I really became a fan of it after I finished reading. Is it because of the ending? No idea. This series is almost as old as I am, yet I still did enjoy reading it. Started reading it during May-June this year, and finished it during the summer holidays. Really quick summary of the first book, which tells about how it all started:Five teenagers(Jake, Rachel, Marco, Cassie and Tobias) take a shortcut over an abandoned construction site, where they meet a crash-landed dying Andalite(some kind of alien) who tells them about the secret Yeerk invasion and desperately hands them the morphing power via a blue cube. What the morphing power is? It lets them turn into any animal they touch and concentrate on, with the small catch of a two-hour limit. They also get the animal's instincts and senses. The teenagers call themselves the Animorphs, and use their powers to fight the Yeerks, who are evil body-controlling parasitic space slugs. One of the teenagers, Tobias, exceeds the two-hour limit and gets trapped as a red-tailed hawk. There's even more, but I'll let you find it out by yourself if you ever decide to check it out by yourself. They are getting re-released next year, just to let you know. Anndddddd...I've read 57 books(out of 64) of this series. ...I must be obsessed.
I've tried reading Lord of the Rings, but I failed half through the first book. As I said, I find it hard reading over-describing books. But I did finish The Hobbit, though.

Not yet, plan on reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and Anne of Green Gables though. :PP
